Bangladesh, India’s neighbour, is currently embroiled in a severe crisis following significant political upheaval. The situation took a drastic turn after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign amidst widespread anti-government protests that escalated into violence. The unrest has sparked international concern, particularly due to numerous reports and videos circulating on social media showing violence against the Hindu minority community in Bangladesh.

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has joined the growing chorus of voices condemning the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Taking to her X account (formerly known as Twitter), Zinta expressed her deep disappointment and concern over the situation. “Devastated & heartbroken to hear of the violence in Bangladesh against their minority population. People killed, families displaced, women violated & places of worship being vandalized & burnt,” she wrote. Zinta urged the newly formed government in Bangladesh to take immediate and effective action to stop the violence and ensure the safety of all its citizens. She concluded her message with the hashtag #SaveBangladeshiHindus.

Zinta is not the only Bollywood celebrity speaking out on this issue. Actor Sonu Sood also expressed his concerns, sharing a video on his social media platform where a Bangladeshi Hindu woman detailed the atrocities faced by her community. “We should do our best to bring back all our fellow Indians from Bangladesh so they get a good life here,” Sood wrote, emphasizing that the responsibility to protect these individuals extends beyond the government to every citizen.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh continues to face unrest as fresh protests erupt in the capital. Students gathered in front of the Supreme Court, demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice, fearing a possible judiciary coup. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced plans to besiege the High Court in response to these concerns, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune.

The situation remains tense, with the international community closely monitoring developments in Bangladesh.
