Alia Bhatt was honoured with the Best Actress Award at the 69th National Film Awards. The actress’s remarkable performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was chosen for the National awards. The prestigious award was presented to her by President Droupadi Murmu. The ceremony was at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Alia attended the event with her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor. While pictures of the actress receiving the award became viral, one photo received criticism. The power couple was captured taking a selfie with the trophy, with Alia planting a kiss on Ranbir’s cheek.

Criticism over Public Display of Affection

However, this display of affection didn’t sit well with some netizens who called out the couple for their public display of affection at such a prestigious event. One user commented, “This is not the place where you can showcase such behaviour.” Another added, “This is all happening in Vigyan Bhawan. Do these people have no shame?” Yet another remarked, “They can’t be doing this sitting in front of the President of India. Alia may lack sense, which is not surprising, but Ranbir should have some decorum.”

Elegant Attire and Expressing Gratitude

For the event, Alia wore her wedding saree designed by Sabyasachi, while Ranbir chose a black bandhgala ethnic ensemble. Upon receiving the prestigious award, Alia Bhatt expressed her gratitude, saying, “It is a very big moment, and I am very grateful.”

Alia took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from the ceremony and captioned them with, “A photo, a moment, a memory for life.”
