The long-standing rift between rapper-singers Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh has been a widely known issue in the Indian music industry. However, it seems Badshah is ready to leave the past behind. In a recent podcast, the rapper expressed his happiness at seeing Honey Singh return to the music scene and wished him well.

Speaking on the podcast Prakhar ke Pravachan, Badshah reflected on Honey Singh’s health struggles, calling it “unfortunate” that he had to go through such a tough phase. The podcast touched on Honey Singh’s battle with mental and physical health, which had kept him away from the spotlight for years.

Badshah Reflects on Mental Health

When asked about Honey Singh’s struggles, Badshah shared his perspective on the challenges artists face, especially when dealing with fame and personal issues. “It’s unfortunate what Honey Singh went through. It’s like making a century and then being seen as a washout. I don’t know why it happened, but my own mental health issues didn’t affect my professional life because I didn’t take myself too seriously,” Badshah said.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining mental health, particularly for artists at such a high level. “In today’s age, as an artist who’s so big and has a responsibility, it’s your duty to protect your mental health. It sounds glamorous to have a painful story, but that pain isn’t worth it. Every move counts when you’re playing chess at such a major level,” Badshah explained.

Badshah’s Message to Honey Singh

Expressing his happiness for Honey Singh’s resurgence in the music scene, Badshah said he was the happiest for Honey Singh’s parents, who have seen their son make a comeback. “I’d like to tell Honey Singh, if he’s watching, to surround himself with people who genuinely care about him, not just because he’s a brand,” Badshah said, urging him to prioritise health and family.

Badshah also advised Honey Singh to stay connected to his roots, reminding him of the joy he felt when making his first song and encouraging him to stick to that passion.

From Collaboration to Conflict

Badshah and Honey Singh, once members of the rap group Mafia Mundeer alongside Ikka, Lil Golu, and Raftaar, rose to fame together before a public fallout in 2012. Despite their differences, Badshah’s recent remarks suggest a willingness to move forward, extending an olive branch to his former collaborator.
