Imran shared that his marriage was not helping him deal with his personal struggles. He said, “Without going too much into that part, because I’m hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire. But as I was dealing with all of this baggage and all my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that.”
He continued, “In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place.”
Marriage and Separation
Imran and Avantika married in 2011 and welcomed a daughter, Imara. However, rumors of their separation began circulating in 2019. Imran confirmed that they decided to divorce in February 2019. Their marriage could not withstand the personal challenges and struggles that Imran was facing at the time.
Moving On with Lekha Washington
Since his separation, Imran has found a new relationship with actress Lekha Washington. They grew close during the lockdown, well after both had separated from their previous partners. Imran confirmed their relationship in March, saying, “Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown. A year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika. And almost a year after she had separated from her partner.”
Lekha has been seen accompanying Imran to various events, including his sister Ira Khan’s wedding, further confirming their relationship. This new relationship seems to be a positive step for both Imran and Lekha as they move forward from their past relationships.
