A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai delivered its decision about the actor Jiah Khan’s passing on Friday. Actor Sooraj Pancholi was cleared in the case after being charged with abetting Jiah Khan’s suicide. When the verdict was announced, he was present at the CBI court.

Judge AS Sayyed of the special CBI court in Mumbai stated, “Due to paucity of evidence, this court cannot hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, therefore acquitted.” Sooraj Pancholi, the son of the actresses Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, is said to have dated Jiah. Rabia Khan, Jiah’s mother, claimed that her daughter had been killed. She filed a High Court petition for a CBI investigation.

Actor Sooraj Pancholi was detained by the Mumbai Police on the basis of a letter that was allegedly authored by Jiah Khan and was discovered on June 10, 2013. Sooraj was accused of aiding in his own suicide but was subsequently released on bail.

A Mumbai court denied Sooraj’s request for bail; however, on July 1, 2013, he was released on free after posting a 50,000 rupee bond. Sooraj Pancholi was declared not responsible for Jiah Khan’s suicide by the court on July 2. The late actor’s mother Rabia Khan asked the court for a comprehensive and in-depth probe since she was unhappy with the court’s decision. The Bombay High Court handed the case over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) almost a year after Jiah Khan passed away.

The shocking incident happened on June 3, 2013. At the time, her then-boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi, was accused of abetting suicide. Currently, he is free on bond. In the Jiah Khan suicide case, the actor was found not guilty by the CBI Court ten years later.
