Tv actress Deepika Singh faced a major backlash and massive trolling on social media after she posted some pictures and videos of herself dancing in front of uprooted trees amid cyclone tauktae. Netizens thought it was very insensitive of her to step out of the house when the citizens were strictly warned to not get out of their houses and stay indoors. As soon as the pictures went viral, netizens called out Deepika for such an insensitive post. One of the users commented “Don’t promote these type of videos. It was not good to be outside.” Another user remarked, “People are dying in the cyclone. People like you are enjoying it. What a shame.” Another wrote, “Maam, people are dying in the cyclone and you are enjoying it like this” with upset emojis. Another comment read, “Have some sensibility maam, this is just stupid.”

In an interview with a leading daily, Deepika has finally opened about receiving hate and backlash on social media and said, “I haven’t seen any hate comments on my post. 99 percent of the comments I’ve received are positive. Rest 1 percent bad comments are on all the posts, even on my traditional dance posts.”

Talking about stepping out amid the cyclone she had shared, “The cyclone indeed was very scary and my heart goes out to all those affected and my only aim is to plant as many trees as I can. I will not stop spreading positivity, and this is for my well-being and happiness. I don’t regret it but, I would definitely request the audience to not step out in the rain, this area is right outside my house. Therefore, I stepped out for 5 minutes.”
