The much awaited trailer of Bhuj: The Pride Of India, has finally dropped in and is already sending fans into a frenzy. The trailer, which is guaranteed to give you goosebumps, is packed with patriotic sentiments and powerful dialogues. The Abhishek Dudhaiya directorial is based on real time events that occurred during the 1970 Indo Pak War, and narrates a hard hitting story of valour, retaliation and victory. Ajay Devgn will be seen essaying the role of IAF Squadron leader Vijay Kumar Karnik, the fearless officer who was in charge of the Bhuj Air Base at the time of the war.
The film also stars Sanjay Dutt as Army Scot Ranchordas Pagi, Sonakshi SInha as Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, Nora Fatehi as Heena Rehman, and popular Punjabi singer and actor, Ammy Virk as Flight Officer Vikram SIngh Baj Jethaaz, along with Sharad Kelkar, Pranitha Subhash and Ihana Dhillon in supporting roles. Presented by T Series and Ajay Devgn Films, and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ginny Khanuja, Vajir Singh and Bunny Sanghavi, the film has been written by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Raman Kumar, Ritesh Shah and Pooja Bhavoria. As per reports, some of the action sequences in the film have been directed by Ajay Devgn himself, due to the unavailability of stunt coordinator, Peter Hein, in March this year, when the said sequences were to be shot.
The film shows how Squadron leader Vijay Karnik and his team, assisted by as many as 300 women from a local village in Madhapar, fearlessly retaliated against and defeated the Pakistani Armed Forces. During the war, the Pak Air Force raided the Bhuj Air Field 35 times in 14 days. As a result, the IAF Air Strip at Bhuj was completely destroyed in combat. Squadron leader Vijay Karnik and the women, toiled day in and day out to reconstruct the entire air base. This act of courage and resilience not only boosted the morale of the country and its people, but also helped India win the war. Ajay Devgn took to social media to share the trailer of the film. He tweeted, “When bravery becomes your armour, every step leads you to victory. Experience the untold story of the greatest battle ever fought.”
Initially, the film was slated for a theatrical release on 14 August 2020 during the Independence Day weekend. But the production had to be halted in March 2020 due to the national lock down in India. 90 percent of the film had already been shot by that time. The shooting resumed in November 2020 and was wrapped up in March 2021. Due to the pandemic, the film is now all set for a digital release. It will stream directly on Disney+ Hotstar on August 13, 2021.
