In an era where we are fighting for equal rights for women hearing such heart-wrenching news is really disturbing. What kind of a cruel world we are living in where there is no safety for women. Yet another incident has left the entire nation in a state of shock. Priyanka Reddy, a veterinary doctor from Hyderabad was sexually assaulted and burnt to death. As per reports she was on her way from her home to the veterinary hospital where she had been working for the past year. On her way, her two-wheeler broke down and she was stranded. When she had called her sister she had said that someone has offered her a lift. Her sister told the police, “I even asked her to come away leaving the vehicle. When I called after some time, her phone was switched off.”

DCP Prakash Reddy told the media, “We are examining CCTV footage from the area. The police were informed at about 7:30 this morning about the burnt body. We suspect she was doused with kerosene and burnt.”

It’s high time to realize that these incidents will continue to happen until any strict action is taken against it.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had taken to Twitter and demanded justice for Priyanka Reddy. He had written, “Whether it is #PriyankaReddy in Hyderabad, #Roja in Tamil Nadu or the law student gang-raped in Ranchi, we seem to be losing it as a society. It has been 7 yrs to the gut-wrenching #Nirbhaya case & our moral fabric continues to be in pieces. We need stricter laws. This needs to STOP!,”
