Last year was filled with many ups and downs as the pandemic had just broken out in India and all over the world. Everyone was locked up in their respective houses and constantly dealing with anxiety and stress. Bollywood was no different and there was a lot of heartbreaking news which came from the entertainment industry. One such news was about actor Shushant Singh Rajput, who allegedly died by suicide at his apartment in Mumbai.
As soon as the news of Shushant Singh Rajput came out everyone got a huge shock of their lives and it was hard to believe that their favourite actor is no more amongst them. However, a huge section of the audience also started blaming his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for instigating the suicide.
Rhea went through a lot from media trials to trolling and was also arrested for the drug case related to her boyfriend Shushant Singh Rajput. Now after a year, actress Mallika Sehrawat who is busy promoting her upcoming series Nakaab alongside actors Esha Gupta and Gautam Rode opened about the whole situation. During the promotion, Mallika spoke with Spotboye, and without taking the names actress said, “Last year there was a death of an actor and people in a very misogynistic way started blaming his girlfriend. Again it comes down to perception towards women, how we treat women. There was no proof that the poor girlfriend was involved, they started blaming her, manipulating her.
Mallika also opened about losing her role in Welcome Back to the director’s girlfriend, “Welcome ka sequel banega toh director apni girlfriend ko hi dalega na usmein. Welcome 2 bana toh usmein apni girlfriend ko daal diya batao, ab main kya karun? (If a sequel of Welcome is made, then the director will only cast his girlfriend. When Welcome 2 was made, he cast his girlfriend in the film. What do I do now?),” she said.
