Tickets for the India leg of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s highly anticipated Dil-Luminati Tour were sold out within minutes on Thursday. While the rapid sell-out reflects the massive demand for the popular singer’s performances, it has also sparked a debate over ticket prices, with many fans expressing discontent.
Comedian and social media influencer Saumya Sahni voiced her frustrations on Friday in a video post, criticizing the high ticket prices. Sahni, known for her humorous takes on current events, took a more serious tone this time, claiming that Diljit had no right to charge exorbitant amounts for concerts in India, especially given the financial struggles of many of his fans.
Sahni’s Criticism of Ticket Prices
In her video, Sahni said, “I might regret this later, but no Indian artist should be charging ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 for a concert, especially when they are performing in multiple cities. Many of his core audience members are unemployed or have limited means of entertainment. The middle class, in particular, has no access to such events.”

Sahni also pointed out that Dosanjh, who earns significant revenue from his international shows, could have been more considerate towards his Indian fan base. She argued that even international artists, despite large setups and lineups, charge more reasonable prices for their performances. “Lollapalooza passes, despite featuring major artists, are much cheaper,” she said.
The video also included the caption, “My 2am thoughts are wildly class conscious,” along with the text “₹15K for a concert? In this economy???? In this country???”
Social Media Reactions
Sahni’s comments sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many agreeing that the ticket prices were too high. One Instagram user commented, “He’s going to realise this when he’s singing, and nobody sings back.” Another said, “₹500 max. I’ll just watch it on YouTube.”
Others compared Dosanjh to international bands, with one person writing, “Nirvana always ensured their ticket prices were low so their actual fans could attend.” Another added, “Diljit could easily sell out multiple stadium shows per city, but money seems to be a higher priority than his fanbase.”
Dil-Luminati Tour Dates
The India leg of Diljit Dosanjh’s tour will kick off at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26. Following Delhi, the tour will visit cities including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Bengaluru. Tickets were made available for general purchase on Thursday afternoon and sold out quickly, leaving many fans disappointed.
