Television actor Rubina Dilaik, best known for essaying the role of Radhika in Chhoti Bahu, and Saumya in Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Ardh. As per reports, as many as 50 girls had been shortlisted for the look test, but it was Rubina who finally managed to bag the role. The film also marks the directorial debut of singer and music composer, Palaash Muchhal, who took to Instagram to announce the news about this upcoming project. Television actor Hiten Tejwani, best known for his role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who has worked in several successful comedies, will also be seen in the film. While the actors are expected to begin shooting for the film in September this year, the makers are eyeing an early 2022 release.
Upon being asked to share some more details about the film, director Palaash Muchhal said, “We will be shooting ‘Ardh’ over a period of two months. Since the film is based on a real life story, it will be shot at real locales and not on set. The film narrates the story of a man who comes to Mumbai to become an actor. Rajpal Yadav will be essaying the role of this man. Hiten will be seen as the best friend of this man and Rubina will be seen as someone who supports him throughout his journey.” The film shall witness Hiten and Rubina sharing screen space after a long gap of almost 11 years. Both the actors had worked together in Chhoti Bahu. Palaash and Hiten have known each other since the time when Palaash directed a film titled Tere Aane Se, with Hiten and Rituparna Sengupta in lead roles. However, the film could not be released.
While talking about the title ‘Ardh’, Palaash said that it signifies the unfulfilled dream of the lead character. The soundtrack of the film will feature beautiful renditions by Palak Muchhal and Sunidhi Chauhan. While Palak will be lending her voice to most of the romantic tracks, Sunidhi will be roped in for the peppy numbers. In an interview with a leading daily, Palaash talked about his desire to direct a film. He said, “While I have directed several music videos with Shaheer Sheikh, Rashami Desai, Parth Samthaan and many others, the bug of directing films bit me when I worked in the Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone starrer, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010).” Due to the pandemic, the film will have an OTT release.
