While Kim Kardashian, accompanied by her sister Khloe, enjoys her visit to India, an old video of the reality star describing Indian cuisine as “disgusting” has resurfaced online, sparking widespread attention and controversy. The Kardashian sisters are currently in Mumbai to attend the highly anticipated wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
The video, dating back to 2012, features Kim discussing Indian food with her sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner in an episode of their reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” In the clip, Kim asks, “Have you ever tried Indian food?” to which Kendall responds, “It’s disgusting!” Kim then agrees, saying, “Disgusting, right?”
Following the episode’s airing, the Kardashian family faced severe backlash for their comments. Social media users were quick to criticize the remarks, with some accusing the family of being culturally insensitive. “Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner called Indian food ‘so disgusting.’ Seriously? You don’t have to like it, but don’t be rude,” one user tweeted at the time.
In response to the criticism, Kim later issued an apology, clarifying that her comments were not intended to offend. “In NO way was my comment intended as an insult to the Indian people or their culture. This is just my own personal taste. There are a lot of foods I don’t like… I hate cilantro and peppers, and there are definitely some Armenian foods that I personally find disgusting, but that doesn’t reflect my opinions on other Armenian people or my culture. My comment wasn’t intended to offend anybody. We all have our own opinions and tastes and I was simply expressing mine,” she wrote on her blog.
Kim and Khloe arrived in India on Thursday via private jet to attend the Ambani wedding. They received a grand welcome at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, with photographers documenting their arrival. Reports suggest the Kardashians plan to document the wedding for their Hulu reality series, “The Kardashians,” and have brought a team, including hairstylist Chris Appleton, to ensure comprehensive coverage.
The wedding promises to be a star-studded affair, with global icons like Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, John Cena, and numerous politicians and celebrities expected to attend. The celebrations, adhering to traditional Hindu Vedic customs, will span from July 12 to July 14, with events including Shubh Vivah, Shubh Aashirwad, and Mangal Utsav.
