Recently, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt wrote on Instagram about a privacy invasion: “In what world is this okay and allowed?” Two photographers had climbed the building next to Alia Bhatt’s apartment, fixed their cameras on her residence, and taken pictures. Alia Bhatt was outraged. Shamefully, there was no use of editorial discretion, and these photos were then simply removed off the internet without warning or remorse. Alia’s outrage is well-founded and understandable. In the wake of Alia Bhatt’s privacy invasion controversy, Zeenat Aman wrote, “I promise you there are more interesting things to learn than which celebrity met whom and where.”

On Tuesday, Alia Bhatt slammed a media outlet for what she called a “gross breach” of her privacy when two guys photographed her from the terrace of a neighbouring building while she was seated in her living room at home. Many Bollywood stars, including Arjun Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Janhvi Kapoor among others, came out in Alia’s support when she posted her hacked photographs on her Instagram Stories and dubbed the situation “totally shameless.”

On Thursday night, the seasoned actress Zeenat Aman, who recently made her Instagram debut, also wrote a piece about celebrities’ right to privacy. She posted a picture of herself attending a friend’s birthday celebration while dressed up and wrote a long caption about how people shouldn’t be fixating on, “which celebrity met whom and where”.

“A quick picture in the foyer before heading to a friend’s birthday party the other night. I know you may want to ask me which friend, so I will give you an answer about privacy. I think there’s a fine line between a healthy interest in a public figure or a person you admire, and an entitlement or desire to know every detail of their lives”, she penned.

The actress mentioned, “The former is wonderful and that on which artists and audiences thrive. The latter is a drag for everyone involved and, in my view, keeps us from approaching new ideas and a higher level of conversation.” The Satyam Shivam Sundaram actress made a significant statement towards the end of her note, “The world is so spectacularly diverse and rich, I promise you there are more interesting things to learn than which celebrity met whom and where. Just a thought.”
