Uorfi Javed, a name synonymous with bold fashion choices and an outspoken demeanor, recently shared a deeply personal account of her teenage years. In an interview with ‘The Male Feminist’ on Hauterrfly, Uorfi candidly discussed her upbringing in Lucknow, marked by an abusive father and a rebellious spirit that helped her navigate through a challenging childhood.
Growing up in a conservative household, Uorfi faced strict restrictions imposed by her parents. Despite the controlling environment, she found ways to express herself and enjoy her youth. Recalling her teenage escapades, Uorfi shared, “What I used to do at night when everyone slept, there was a door on the side of my bathroom. That door used to open outside the house. I used to open it, go out and my friends used to wait outside the gate on their cars. I used to enjoy the whole night. I used to chill, roam around, eat kulfi, drink tea, and sometimes I used to drink a little. I was very badass that way.”
The actress also opened up about the severe restrictions and aggressive behavior from her father, which left her with deep-rooted insecurities. “My parents did not give me that much self-confidence in my childhood. They used to say keep quiet, don’t say anything. I used to get scolded a lot, I used to get beaten a lot. My father was very abusive in general. He just got angry and beat up my mom and us,” Uorfi revealed.
The restrictions extended to the point where Uorfi and her sisters were not allowed to leave the house or even stand on the roof. “We were not allowed to go out of the house, you can’t go. I cannot even stand on the roof. If it happened, he will say ‘Which man were you showing it to?’” she recounted.
Uorfi also described the public humiliation she endured at the hands of her father. “Slowly, my father started misbehaving a lot. He used to abuse me in front of everyone and in front of guests, saying are you showing your boobs in front of everyone,” she concluded.
Despite these hardships, Uorfi has emerged as a resilient and confident individual, carving out a niche for herself in the entertainment industry. Her nine-episode reality series ‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, offering fans a glimpse into her life and journey.
Uorfi’s story is a testament to her strength and determination, highlighting her ability to overcome adversity and remain true to herself.
