Veteran actor Rajinikanth was admitted to a corporate hospital in Chennai on Monday night after experiencing stomach discomfort. According to reports from PTI, his condition is stable, and he is expected to undergo an elective procedure on Tuesday.
Rajinikanth’s wife, Latha, provided a brief update on his health, stating “All is well” but did not elaborate further. News18 reported that the actor is under the care of interventional cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish at Apollo Hospital. The procedure is expected to address an issue near his abdomen.
A source at the hospital confirmed that the actor had been admitted due to digestive discomfort. “He will undergo an elective procedure in the cath lab and will be shifted to a room afterwards,” the source told PTI. It is anticipated that Rajinikanth will be discharged by Tuesday evening if all goes as planned.
The news of his hospitalisation prompted an outpouring of support from his fans and well-wishers. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also extended his wishes for a speedy recovery via social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects
Rajinikanth has been active in his film career, with two major projects lined up. His latest film, Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is set to hit theatres on October 10. The film marks Rajinikanth’s 170th project and features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Abhirami. Vettaiyan is produced by Lyca Productions, and its audio and preview launch events were recently held, garnering significant attention.
Additionally, Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Coolie, a gangster drama directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film’s announcement, featuring monochrome visuals and the track D.I.S.C.O., created a buzz among fans. Coolie also boasts an ensemble cast with Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra playing key roles. The movie has been filmed in locations such as Visakhapatnam and Chennai, with a planned release in 2025.
