She steps into the shoes of the antagonist, ‘Dasi Maa’, in a spine-tingling horror thriller, an intense transformation that’s already intrigued audiences with her first look. But it wasn’t just viewers who felt the eerie impact, her husband, Kunal, admits he was genuinely spooked by her portrayal.
In a candid conversation with Hindustan Times ahead of Chhorii 2’s release, Soha Ali Khan revealed how she had to shield her face from her daughter while in costume as the eerie ‘Dasi Maa’. The transformation was so unsettling that even her husband, Kunal, found himself a little shaken. Soha shared: “We were shooting in an evil look for long hours, and I couldn’t be there for bedtime. Normally, when I’m not there for bedtime, I FaceTime her. This time, I did not want to. She would, and I would disconnect and do an audio call. I said, ‘Trust me, you don’t want to see me like this at bedtime’. Neither did Kunal want to talk to me. I said, ‘You can answer my call.’ He said, ‘No, talk to me after two months’.”
Soha Ali Khan Opens Up About Choosing to Play a Villainous Role
Reflecting on her decision to take on the role of the antagonist, Soha shared that she’s often been cast in timid, dignified characters that exude a girl-next-door charm. But when Chhorii 2 came her way with the offer to play the sinister ‘Dasi Maa’, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to break out of her comfort zone. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said: “I have been offered very dignified roles in the past, very vanilla and girl-next-door. Dasi maa (her character in Chhorii 2) is far from that and very out of my comfort zone, physically and emotionally.”
