Shraddha Kapoor’s career has come full circle, with her latest film, Stree 2, breaking box office records and solidifying her position as one of Bollywood’s top actresses. However, her journey to stardom wasn’t always smooth. Kapoor, who was once offered a role opposite Salman Khan, faced a challenging start in the industry after her debut film Teen Patti flopped. Despite her film lineage as the daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor, Shraddha struggled to find work and had to endure multiple auditions before landing her breakthrough role.
In a recent interview, Shraddha Kapoor candidly reflected on the difficult phase of her career. “I had to give a lot of auditions because no one wanted to work with me after my debut failed,” she admitted. “Especially if you start with the baggage of a flop film, it becomes very hard to get the next opportunity. Then Mohit Suri saw something in me and took a risk.” That risk paid off with Aashiqui 2, which propelled Shraddha into stardom.
Since then, Kapoor has delivered a string of hits, including ABCD 2, Ek Villain, Haider, Baaghi, Stree, Chhichhore, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Her latest film, Stree 2, a horror-comedy, released on August 15, 2024, has shattered box office records. The film collected a staggering Rs 54 crore on its first day, including Rs 8.55 crore from paid previews on the previous evening.
Stree 2’s opening has surpassed the first-day earnings of some of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including Hrithik Roshan’s War (Rs 53 crore), Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 52 crore), and Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (Rs 44 crore). With these numbers, Shraddha Kapoor has once again proved her mettle, rising from a challenging start to becoming one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars.
