Shailesh Lodha recently opened up about his 14-year decision to leave “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” at an event. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, one of the longest-running comedies in Indian television history, has a particular place in practically every Indian’s heart. One such newcomer to the programme is Sachin Shroff, who is playing the iconic role of Taarak Mehta that Shailesh Lodha formerly played.
Shailesh Lodha finally spoke up about his disagreements with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s creators, which caused him to leave the programme, at a recent event. Shailesh Lodha and several other well-known people were recently invited to an event that was organised by a reputable news station. The actor gave several different viewpoints during the occasion, but the one that is currently dominating headlines is the explanation for why he left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Asit Modi, the show’s producer, was singled out by Shailesh when he spoke candidly about leaving the programme. Shailesh referred to his disagreements with the makers as follows:
“Doosron ki pratibhaon se apna naam karne wale log, kisi pratibhashali vyakti se bade nahi ho sakte. Duniya ka koi publisher, lekhak se bada nahi ho sakta, koi producer kisi abhineta se bada nahi ho sakta, vo vyapari hai. Jab bhi koi vyapari mere kavi hone pe, mere abhineta hone par haavi hoga, tab tab jwalamukhi fatega.” In his fiery speech, Shailesh Lodha went on to explain how publishers profit from the labour of writers but still treat them badly. The former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor unleashed a stinging criticism on the producers after discussing how the directors and producers take advantage of the gifted artists. He said:
“In this country, publishers wear a diamond ring and a writer, who wants to get his book published, has to shell out money. If people, who earn from the talent of other people, start considering themselves over and above the talented people, then a talented person should raise their voices. Maybe I am one of those talented people who has raised his voice.”
For the unversed, when Shailesh Lodha officially confirmed his exit from the show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah back in 2022, reports were rife that some financial issues were the reasons behind his rift with the show’s producers. However, soon a statement was released by the producers of the show in reference to the growing reports about Shailesh Lodha’s dues. The statement declined the reports, and it could be read as:
“Despite repeated communication to sign all dues documents and collect his pending payment, Shailesh Lodha has refused to do it. When you leave any company or show, there is always a procedure that needs to be followed and fulfilled. Every artist, staff or technician needs to do these formalities. No company will release the payment before completing the formalities.”
