In a major development in the world of Bollywood, actor Abhishek Bachchan has been confirmed to join the upcoming film ‘King’. The film, produced by Siddharth Anand’s Marflix Pictures and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, is set to mark the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan.

Just yesterday, after attending the highly-publicized Ambani wedding, Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana jetted off to London to commence preparations for the film’s shoot.

Sujoy Ghosh and Siddharth Anand Collaborate for ‘King’

Acclaimed director Sujoy Ghosh, known for his innovative approach in Hindi cinema with hits like ‘Kahaani’, teams up with Siddharth Anand for ‘King’. Although Ghosh’s recent film ‘Jaane Jaan’ did not receive the same level of acclaim as his previous works such as ‘Teen’ and ‘Badla’, his unique cinematic style remains influential.

The duo has been conceptualizing a father-daughter story for quite some time, and with the success of the recently released ‘Maharaja’, which also explores father-daughter relationships, confidence in the project’s appeal is high. Abhishek Bachchan, who is set to portray a similar dynamic in another film, is rumored to be playing the antagonist in ‘King’.

Abhishek Bachchan Cast as Villain

Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have previously shared the screen in ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ and ‘Happy New Year’. Sources suggest that it was Shah Rukh Khan who recommended Abhishek for the villain’s role in ‘King’, and the actor has enthusiastically accepted the part.

Bachchan, who has previously portrayed complex characters in films like ‘Raavan’ and ‘Guru’, will for the first time take on a full-fledged villain role. His performance as a murderer in Ghosh’s ‘Bob Biswas’ has already showcased his capability for darker roles.

Preparations Underway

Preparations for ‘King’ are in full swing in London, with Sujoy Ghosh and the production team finalizing local arrangements. Producer Siddharth Anand is deeply involved in these preparations, ensuring all elements are in place for a smooth shoot.

Shah Rukh Khan, who made a triumphant return to the big screen last year with Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathaan’, is gearing up for another significant project. The sequel to ‘Pathaan’ is also set to begin filming this year.

The principal photography for ‘King’ is scheduled to start in November, with the film’s release slated for December next year.
