‘Nobody Took Me Seriously Until…’: Sonakshi Sinha Reveals Heeramandi’s Pivotal Role In Her Career

Sonakshi Sinha, who recently tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate ceremony, has opened up about the pivotal role director Sanjay Leela Bhansali played in her career. Sinha, known for her roles in mainstream Bollywood films, revealed that Bhansali was the first to take her seriously as an actor by casting her in his debut web series, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.”

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sinha expressed her gratitude towards Bhansali. “I am so glad that somebody visualised me, Sanjay sir saw me in a role like that. I am truly grateful to him. I have been saying for a long time that I am interested in playing a negative, villainous, or psychotic character,” she said.

Sonakshi Sinha emphasised that before this opportunity, no one considered her for such challenging roles. “Nobody took me seriously until he cast me in Fareedan’s role, so I am truly grateful to him. As an actor, it’s so nice to take up a challenge like that and do something different. How long can you play the girl-next-door, sweet girlfriend, sweet wife? It was just so much fun for me to play a role like that.”

On a personal note, Sinha and Iqbal exchanged vows on June 23. Since their wedding, the couple has been actively sharing moments from their life together on social media.

Sinha posted emotional pictures from her vidaai ceremony with a heartfelt note: “At the wedding, maa started crying when it hit her I would be moving out of the house. I told her, ‘Maa, don’t worry… Juhu to Bandra is only 25 minutes.’ Missing them a little extra today, so I’m telling myself the exact same thing.” She added, “Hope there’s Sunday Sindhi curry made at home…See you soon… zoom zoom zoom.”

The couple registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act. They previously worked together in the film “Double XL” and the music video “Blockbuster.”
