Television actress Dalljiet Kaur finds herself in the midst of a contentious legal battle with her estranged husband, Nikhil Patel, as both parties exchange serious allegations. Since filing for divorce earlier this year, the couple’s disputes have escalated, culminating in Dalljiet filing an FIR against Nikhil, accusing him of cruelty and criminal breach of trust.

On Thursday, Dalljiet took to Instagram to express her hope for justice. She shared a picture of a Mumbai police hoarding, captioning it, “No matter where in the world, I know justice will be served,” while tagging the official Instagram account of the Mumbai police.

The FIR, filed on August 2 at Mumbai’s Agripada police station, brings forth accusations under sections 85 and 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Dalljiet alleges that Nikhil subjected her to cruelty and breached her trust.

The legal confrontation between the two has extended beyond Indian borders. In June, Dalljiet moved the Nairobi City Court in Kenya, where the couple previously resided, securing a stay order that prevents Nikhil from evicting her and their son from their home. This action followed a legal notice sent by Nikhil, in which he accused Dalljiet of harassment, claiming that her social media posts alleging his involvement in an extramarital affair were unfounded.

Dalljiet and Nikhil’s relationship has been fraught with difficulties since their marriage in March 2023. Just 10 months after tying the knot, the couple filed for divorce, with both parties accusing each other of misconduct. On Nikhil’s birthday this year, Dalljiet shared wedding pictures on social media, alleging that Nikhil had intentionally hurt her.

“Right from sending my belongings to a storage house before the agreed date to wiping off the wall I had painted with my chuda [traditional bangles], you have impressive ways to hurt me. And I know you are not done,” Dalljiet wrote, alluding to further emotional harm she anticipates from Nikhil.

As the legal battle continues, Dalljiet Kaur remains resolute in her pursuit of justice, hoping that the truth will prevail in the courts.
