Hansal Mehta on Working with Kareena Kapoor

In a recent interview with India Today, director Hansal Mehta shared his experience working with Kareena, highlighting her professionalism and commitment. “She is one of the biggest stars I’ve collaborated with, but she never behaved like a tantrummy star,” Mehta said, dispelling common myths about A-list actors. “She surrendered herself to the film and the character. Her work ethic was astounding.”

Mehta elaborated on how Kareena Kapoor was always present on set, not just for her scenes but also to support her fellow actors. “She would give cues to other actors during their shots, which speaks volumes about her dedication,” the filmmaker noted.

A Smooth Filming Experience

The Shahid director, who has worked in the industry for over three decades, described the production of The Buckingham Murders as one of the most seamless experiences of his career. “It wasn’t just about her,” Mehta said, calling Kareena an “absolute dream” to work with. He hinted that past experiences with difficult stars may have made this collaboration particularly refreshing.

Mehta also revealed that he is already contemplating a prequel to the film. In an interview with MidDay, the director shared his vision for an origin story focusing on Kareena’s character, Jasmeet Bhamra, exploring her past and what led her to become the detective she is today.

Star-Studded Cast

Besides Kareena Kapoor, The Buckingham Murders features an ensemble cast that includes Allen Keith, Ash Tandon, and Ranveer Brar in significant roles.
