Actor Kangana Ranaut has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share her thoughts on witches, portraying them as empowered women who are deeply connected to their higher selves. In a lengthy post, Kangana emphasised their unique qualities, suggesting that their intuition and indomitable spirit often make them seem mysterious and threatening to those who feel confined.

Kangana’s remarks were sparked by a tweet from user John Collins, who wrote, “Don’t be afraid of witches, be afraid of the ones who burned them.” In response, Kangana elaborated, “Witches are women who are connected to their higher self; their intuition, infectious free spirit, and uncontrollable urge to break all boundaries make them mysterious, frightening and threatening to those who are caged and cursed.”

In her post, she continued to discuss the societal perceptions of gifted individuals, stating, “Caged people believe that gifted people have some evil powers and they must be burnt to ashes. Misery exists in so many forms, and jealousy is the most miserable of them all. You can choose to be jealous or be inspired; make a smart choice. Those who choose to be inspired are the chosen ones. Break the cage and break free.” Her comments resonate with a broader message of empowerment and self-liberation.

The conversation around Kangana’s post gained traction when actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a screenshot of the tweet on her Instagram Stories, simply stating, “Word,” and tagging Kangana, further amplifying the discussion.

On the professional front, Kangana is set to appear in the political drama Emergency, which she has written, directed, and co-produced. Originally scheduled for release on September 6, the film faced delays due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Emergency has attracted controversy, particularly from Sikh groups concerning its depiction of the community. However, it has now received certification from the CBFC, and Kangana has promised that a new release date will be announced soon.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, Emergency is set against the backdrop of the period when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency in India from 1975 to 1977. The film features a notable cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman.

As Kangana continues to engage with her audience through her powerful statements, she remains a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, stirring conversations on various social issues.
