Bollywood is surrounded by filmy people out of which some are friends for years and some are just there to work. However, whether it is the entertainment industry or normal life our friendships go through ups and downs with the changing times. Similarly, Kajol and Karan Johar’s friendship also did pass the testing times but it also created a huge controversy and uproar.
Back In 2016, Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgan’s film Shivaay and Karan Johar’s dream project Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had released at the same time. The two films had a clash at the box office as the movies were planned to release over the long Diwali break. Later, when the movie was released Ajay Devgan’s Shivaay couldn’t impress the audience while Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil did a fabulous job and the film was an instant hit. However, later Ajay Devgan claimed that Karan Johar had bribed Kamaal R Khan to spread negative reactions about his film.
For those who don’t know, Kamaal R Khan is a self-proclaimed film critic who runs his own youtube channel and gives his reviews about the film. Ajay accused KRK of taking 25 Lakh from Karan Johar and spread positive word of mouth for his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Ajay posted an audiotape on his tweeter handle, in which KRK had allegedly accepted of taking the money from KJo to write good reviews about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. “Hear what self-proclaimed no. 1 critic and trade analyst Kamaal R Khan has to say,” Ajay had tweeted.
Later, Ajay Devgan’s wife Kajol who is friends with Karan Johar for more than a decade re-tweeted her husband’s post and wrote, ‘SHOCKED!’. Karan Johar later addressed the whole controversy and gave an interview to a leading publication, “My self-respect, reputation, company reputation and my upbringing don’t allow me to dignify this question with a response,” he said.
