In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor talks openly about how terrible it was to lose her mother, the late Sridevi, and how it also made her feel oddly relieved. One of the most well-liked actresses in Bollywood nowadays is Janhvi Kapoor. She is the eldest child of iconic actress Sridevi and talented director Boney Kapoor. Prior to making her screen debut in the movie Dhadak, Janhvi lost her mother, and her life was permanently altered. For the uninitiated, Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, in Dubai, from drowning in a bathtub.

In a recent interview with Barkha Dutt, Janhvi Kapoor revealed how challenging it was for her to deal with the passing of both her mother and the venerable Sridevi. She did, however, claim that she experienced an odd feeling of relief upon her mother’s passing because she felt that, given all the advantages she had received, she deserved something terrible. When discussing the same, she stated:

“When I lost mom, of course, there was this huge tragedy, there was a hole in my heart. But there was this horrible feeling of ‘something bad has happened’ to justify all the great things in my life and all the privileges and the things that I got easily which I heard my entire life. I thought ‘Ok now something bad has happened. I deserve this. I deserve this horrible thing that has happened to me. It was a weird sense of relief.”

One of the hardest times in Janhvi Kapoor’s life was losing her mother, Sridevi, and she fought to get through it. Once her mother passed away, Janhvi admitted in the same interview that she began devoting the majority of her time to her job, adding that everything else had become hazy. She said: “I don’t think I remember anything. That entire month was a blur for me and a long time after that was also a blur.”

Janhvi told how she jumped right into work after realising she was too damaged during the COVID-19 lockdown. She also said that she had relied on her late mother, Sridevi, for validation and acceptance all these years, but that after her passing, she had delegated that burden to the audience. She uttered: “During COVID I was forced to spend a minute with myself, and thoughts and I realised actually how damaged I was. Another aspect of it that I reflected on, that I think really messed me up, was the validation and approval that I sought from my mother. I gave the audience that responsibility.”

On the professional front, actress Janhvi Kapoor will be next seen in the films, Bawaal and Mr And Mrs Mahi this year.
