Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee, a popular celebrity couple, have captivated their fans on social media by sharing glimpses of their personal lives. However, with fame comes scrutiny, and the couple, along with their young daughters, Lianna and Divisha, have faced their share of trolling. Despite the negativity, Gurmeet remains unfazed, understanding it as part of the celebrity experience.
The couple, who tied the knot on February 15, 2011, embraced parenthood with the birth of their first daughter, Lianna, in April 2023, followed by the arrival of their second daughter, Divisha, in November the same year. Their decision to open up about their lives on social media has been met with both adoration and criticism.
In a candid conversation, Gurmeet reflected on the challenges of being in the public eye. “When we are actors and public figures, our lives are no longer just ours. We make them public, and in return, we receive love from our audience,” he explained. “It was our choice to pursue this profession and live a public life, and the negativity that comes with it is a part of that sphere.”
Initially, Gurmeet had not anticipated that his children would become targets of online trolling, but he has since developed a strategy to cope with it. “We have learned to tackle the negativity. Around 80-85% of the feedback on our social media is positive, and only a small percentage involves trolling,” he noted. “We can’t control it, so we choose to focus on the love and positivity we receive, ignoring the rest.”
Gurmeet’s approach to handling trolls is one of selective attention. “I don’t react to trolling. If I see someone intentionally picking on me, I skip the comment. My focus is on the positive feedback and constructive criticism about my work, which helps me improve as an artist,” he stated.
The actor recently starred in the web series Commander Karan Saxena, released on Disney+ Hotstar. The show, which follows a RAW agent on a high-stakes mission, has received overwhelming praise. “The response has been heartening,” Gurmeet shared, adding that fans from all walks of life have expressed their admiration for the series.
With his focus on positivity and his fans’ support, Gurmeet continues to navigate the challenges of fame while staying grounded in his craft and family life.
