Producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have come under scrutiny following the filing of a legal case against them under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The allegations stem from their involvement in the web series ‘Gandi Baat,’ specifically Season 6, which aired on the OTT platform ALT Balaji.

The complaint, lodged at the MHB police station in Mumbai, claims that the series contained inappropriate and obscene scenes featuring minor girls. Authorities have registered the case against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor under multiple sections, including 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act, and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act.

According to police reports, the controversial content was available for streaming between February and April 2021, although the specific episode in question is no longer accessible on the platform. This incident marks a significant moment in the ongoing discourse regarding the portrayal of minors in media, particularly in adult-themed series.

As the investigation unfolds, both Kapoor and her mother have yet to respond to the allegations publicly. Meanwhile, Ekta Kapoor continues to expand her cinematic repertoire. Her latest project, the drama film ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2′ (LSD 2), premiered in theatres on April 19. Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, the film is characterized by its thought-provoking themes and aims to challenge viewers’ perceptions of a society increasingly consumed by digital distractions.

The poster for LSD 2 has drawn attention for its stark portrayal of contemporary relationships, featuring a couple depicted in a moment of intimacy juxtaposed with technological detachment. This duality mirrors the societal issues that the film seeks to address, making it a timely release amidst the controversies surrounding the Kapoors.

As public interest grows, the legal situation presents a complex scenario for the renowned producer and her family. The outcome of this case may have significant implications for Kapoor’s future projects and the broader landscape of content creation in Indian media.

The legal proceedings are expected to garner considerable media attention, reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by creators in navigating the sensitive balance between artistic expression and societal responsibility.
