Actress Janhvi Kapoor is preparing for the release of her upcoming film, *Mr And Mrs Mahi*, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. Following in her late mother Sridevi’s footsteps, Janhvi is set to make her Telugu film debut in *Devara*, starring alongside Jr. NTR and Saif Ali Khan. A Painful Memory from *Dhadak* Promotions
In a recent interview with Mashable India, Janhvi Kapoor recounted a distressing experience. During the promotions, she revealed her debut film, *Dhadak*, just months after her mother’s death. During a dance reality show appearance, the producers surprised her with a tribute to Sridevi. The actress wasn’t aware of it as nobody informed her or her team in advance. Although the tribute was beautiful, it overwhelmed Janhvi, causing her to have a panic attack on set. When the episode aired, the producers had edited out her distress and instead showed her clapping along with the performance.
Quoted by The Free Press Journal, Janhvi shared, “I was promoting *Dhadak* and everything was very fresh. My team was taking care that I didn’t get reminded of my mother, but this show didn’t tell us that they were going to give a tribute to mom. So they played an audio-visual of all my mother’s songs with an emotional voiceover, and these kids started dancing to pay homage. It was beautiful, but I wasn’t ready.
Janhvi said that she couldn’t breathe and started howling and crying. She ran off the stage and went to her van and had a panic attack. “They obviously cut all that out and instead put up another clip of me clapping and smiling, and people were like, ‘Does she really not care?’ But what happened was very different,” she said.
Dealing with Public Scrutiny
Janhvi expressed how challenging it is to deal with public scrutiny regarding her relationship with her late mother. She mentioned that if she talks about Sridevi, some people find her insincere; if she doesn’t, they label her as “snooty.” The constant judgment and misunderstanding are confusing and painful for her.

On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor was last seen in *Bawaal* alongside Varun Dhawan.
