Anurag Kashyap, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his bold and unfiltered storytelling, is now making headlines with a candid revelation about a night he spent in jail.
Kashyap, who has taken on an acting role in his latest series Bad Cop, shared this surprising anecdote during a promotional interview.
In a conversation with comedian Samay Raina on his YouTube channel, Kashyap recounted an incident where he ended up in a police lock-up for a night after slapping someone he “was not supposed to hit.”
Kashyap explained, “Yes, I have gone to jail. I slapped the wrong person. Somebody you are not supposed to hit. I was in jail for a night. The man who put me in the lock-up is the same guy who changed my life completely. He was the one who brought me out.”
Kashyap added that the individual who detained him was ultimately impressed by his stand for what was right, leading to a significant turning point in his life.
Although he refrained from divulging further details about the incident, his revelation left both his co-star Gulshan Devaiah and the interviewer in shock.
This is not the first time Kashyap has shared an unexpected story from his past. Last year, while promoting his film Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, he recounted an incident in which he was arrested in Saudi Arabia for being drunk.
In an episode of Unfiltered with Samdish, Kashyap explained, “There were no flights from Denmark due to volcanic ash. I was very exhausted and I had wine and I went, took the ticket, and I had to wait five hours. I went to the lounge and started drinking because I wanted to pass out. I sat on the flight and I passed out. I landed in Saudi, they arrested me because I walked on the land of Saudi drunk. They started questioning me.”
Kashyap’s ability to candidly share these personal experiences underscores his reputation for being unapologetically honest, both in his films and in real life.
His latest series, Bad Cop, where he steps in front of the camera, is already generating buzz for its intriguing premise and Kashyap’s performance.
As Kashyap continues to promote Bad Cop, his stories from the past add a layer of intrigue to his persona, reminding audiences of the multifaceted experiences that shape his unique approach to storytelling. The series, eagerly awaited by fans, promises to be another bold chapter in Kashyap’s illustrious career.
