Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), shedding light on her personal struggles in a candid interview with The Lallantop. The revelation comes after years of speculation from those close to her, with the actress admitting that she only recently confirmed the diagnosis following a psychological assessment.
“I used to get zoned out from a young age,” Bhatt shared, explaining how she would frequently drift off during conversations or while in class, unaware that it was connected to ADHD. Reflecting on how the condition has shaped her life, she said that it had always been present, but she hadn’t realized the cause until now.
The Jigra star spoke about how ADHD affects her daily routine and concentration. Interestingly, Bhatt noted that there are two moments when she feels most focused: while performing in front of the camera and when spending time with her daughter, Raha. “Whenever I am in front of the camera, I am most present. And now, after Raha, when I am with her, I am most present,” Bhatt revealed, describing these as her most peaceful moments.

The actress, who tied the knot with actor Ranbir Kapoor in 2022, also shared that ADHD influenced her choice of a minimal makeup look for their wedding. Bhatt confessed that she found it difficult to sit still for extended periods, which led to her opting for a more natural and understated bridal style. “I couldn’t sit for long in the makeup chair,” she admitted, adding that the decision was partly due to her condition.
Bhatt and Kapoor welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022. Since becoming a mother, Bhatt has spoken more openly about balancing her personal and professional life, with ADHD adding another layer of complexity to her experience.
As one of Bollywood’s most prominent stars, Bhatt’s decision to share her ADHD diagnosis is likely to spark important conversations about mental health and neurodiversity in the entertainment industry.
