In a recent interview with Vogue India, actress Alia Bhatt discussed the nepotism topic and her thoughts on the audience. We’ve all heard that the nepotism debate in Bollywood never dies. For the uninitiated, Alia is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, therefore even if she gives her all in her films, she cannot escape the label of nepotism. However, the actress does occasionally break her silence on such a subject. During her interview with Vogue India, the same thing happened.
Alia Bhatt breaks her silence on the ‘nepo kid’ tag
Alia Bhatt was asked about being labelled as a nepotist while speaking to Vogue India. In response to the issue, Alia Bhatt stated that, while nepotism initially provided her with an advantage, it can only take an actor so far because, in the end, what matters most is the decision of the public. The actress stated that all she can do is build a body that demonstrates her industry status. She went on to say that it creates a room in which one must continually work. Nobody knows your talent better than your audience. According to the actress,
“The only thing I can do is build a body of work which hopefully proves I belong in this industry. And sure, it will get you in the room, but then it’s up to you to work that room. The audience is actually the best judge of talent. You could come from a background that props you up but the audience will ultimately decide whether or not you belong there.”
When Alia Bhatt broke the silence about nepotism before
Alia Bhatt discussed her views over being labelled as a nepo kid in 2022. The actress told Mid-Day that she could only put a stop to the topic through her films. She admitted that she felt bad, but that it was a little price to pay for the work she is well-known for. The actress went on to say that she chose to remain silent and pursue her career. As a result, she is capable of producing films such as Gangubai Kathiawadi.
When Priyanka Chopra mentioned ‘nepotism’ in Bollywood
Priyanka Chopra, the global icon, claimed a few days ago on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard that she was worried when six of her films did not go well since she was not a nepo baby. PeeCee stated: “I was terrified when those 6 movies didn’t do well because I’m not a nepo baby. I didn’t have that kind of support which exists in a big way in Bollywood movies. You don’t have your uncle making a new movie for you just because your last one tanked.”
