Aniruddhacharya Maharaj, popularly known as Pookie Baba, surprised his followers by appearing on the grand premiere of Bigg Boss 18. The spiritual preacher, who had previously criticized the reality show and vowed never to participate, faced backlash for his unexpected involvement. Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan, has often drawn mixed reactions, but Aniruddhacharya’s presence on the show particularly disappointed his devotees, many of whom viewed it as a betrayal of his earlier stance.

The controversy stems from Aniruddhacharya Maharaj’s earlier comments, where he categorically stated that he would refuse any financial offer to appear on Bigg Boss. His decision to step onto the Bigg Boss stage, even as a guest, led to confusion and disappointment among his followers, who expected him to maintain his distance from such mainstream entertainment platforms.

Apology and Clarification

Responding to the criticism, Aniruddhacharya Maharaj quickly issued a public apology, addressing the concerns of his followers. In a viral video, he clarified his role in the Bigg Boss episode, explaining that he appeared as a guest and not as a contestant. “I went there as a guest, not a candidate. My only purpose was to bless the 18 contestants who will be entering the Bigg Boss House for three months. I am still here with you, delivering ‘katha’ (spiritual discourses),” he said.

In the same video, he emotionally addressed his followers, saying, “This son of yours, this servant, asks for your forgiveness if my entry into Bigg Boss has offended any Sanatani. My intention was to promote Sanatan values, not to compete. Aap nishchint rahe, jab tak ye saans rahegi, Sanatan ki hi baat karunga (Rest assured, as long as I live, I will speak only of Sanatan values).”

Past TV Appearances

Aniruddhacharya Maharaj reiterated that his presence on Bigg Boss was not for participation but to offer blessings, as he had always maintained. He also reminded followers that this wasn’t his first TV appearance. The spiritual leader has been featured on other television shows in the past, such as Laughter Chefs.

Despite his explanation, the debate continues among his followers, with some accepting his apology while others remain skeptical about his decision to associate with the controversial reality show.
