Vidya Balan shed her sarees – and, indeed, her whole outfit – for Dabboo Ratnani’s annual celebrity photoshoot, and the Internet is definitely in shock. Vidya, known for her girl-next-door persona, stars in what is undoubtedly the most suggestive of Dabboo Ratnani’s images this year; it shows her with a newspaper in one hand and a mug in the other, but this was no ordinary morning ritual – Vidya, dressed in heels and sunglasses, appears to be naked behind the newspaper.
It’s a delightful if surprising shot, owing to the wholesome Vidya Balan, but the comments thread has erupted, and not in a good manner. Other trolls made comments about Vidya’s film The Dirty Picture, which was based on the life of South actress Silk Smitha, while others were unpleasant to the newspaper and made what they believed were humorous jokes about forgetting one’s clothing.
