Vidya Balan today is a known name in the Indian film industry. The actress has worked in many woman-oriented films today like Dirty Picture, Sherni, Kahaani, and many more. She has always expressed her thoughts and viewpoints about women’s position in the industry and discussed pay parity. However, there was a time when Vidya didn’t have her own voice in the industry and she was struggling in her career.
Back in the day, she was giving back-to-back flops that shattered her completely. Whether it was Kismat Konnection, Ghanchakkar, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, and Bobby Jasoos none of the movies did work at the box office. During those years, Vidya’s other film had released in theaters called ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’. The movie was directed by known filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and was expected to do well. But, the movie miserably flopped at the box office.
When Mahesh Bhatt called Vidya Balan about she busted into tears. “Sorry, Vidya Film Nhi Chali” the director had said over the phone call. This affected Vidya so deeply that she started crying out loud and her husband Sidharth Roy Kapur had taken her to Sai Baba Mandir in Chembur.
In an old interview, Vidya narrated about the whole incident and said that she was thinking what had gone wrong. “I wondered what I was doing wrong now and what I’d done right earlier,” she said. However, she picked herself up and said forget it if a marriage doesn’t work then it doesn’t mean that the couple didn’t have good times together.
