As Rajkummar Rao gears up for the release of Stree 2, the actor has been making headlines not just for his promotional efforts but also for his candid remarks on the ethical boundaries he maintains in his acting career. During an interview with HT City’s Stars, Rajkummar was asked about one thing he would never do in a film. His response was clear: “It would be very hard for me to slap a girl in a scene. I wouldn’t be able to do it.”

This response prompted a follow-up question about whether he would have accepted a role in Kabir Singh, the 2019 film directed by Sandip Reddy Vanga that sparked controversy for its portrayal of toxic masculinity. Rajkummar Rao said, “Yeah, maybe I would have had a lot of discussions with my director about this scene. Unless it’s something which you cannot, cannot live without, you know your character just cannot live without, it’s like breathing that has to be there… I would get into a big debate with my director.”

Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, drew significant criticism for a scene in which Kapoor’s character slaps Advani’s during a conflict. The film was widely criticized for its depiction of violence and toxic behavior, raising important discussions about the responsibilities of filmmakers and actors in portraying such themes.

On a lighter note, Rajkummar recently shared a snapshot with his wife, Patralekhaa, on Instagram. The couple appeared to be standing at a metro station in a foreign location, and their expressions in the photo quickly became a hit among fans. The picture was clicked by actor-director Kunal Kemmu, with Rajkummar giving him credit in the caption. He also tagged Patralekhaa, calling her his “most favourite and most khubsoorat [beautiful] #Stree.”

Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa, who tied the knot in November 2021, have previously shared the screen in films like CityLights and Samjhana. As Stree 2 approaches its August 15 release, Rajkummar continues to draw attention both for his professional choices and his personal life. Meanwhile, Patralekhaa is set to appear in the upcoming films Phule and Suryast.
