The much-anticipated sequel Son of Sardaar 2 is currently filming in the United Kingdom, but production has been marred by controversy following the exit of actor Vijay Raaz. Producer Kumar Mangat confirmed that Raaz was dismissed from the film due to what he described as “rude behavior,” “lack of cooperation,” and “never-ending demands.”
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Mangat detailed the issues that led to Raaz’s removal. “Yes, it’s true that we have removed Vijay Raaz from the film because of his behavior on the sets,” he stated. According to the producer, Raaz was difficult to work with, making excessive demands for larger rooms, a vanity van, and exorbitant payments for his spot boy. Mangat claimed that Raaz’s spot boy was being paid ₹20,000 per night, a rate higher than that of major stars. Despite efforts to address the situation, Raaz allegedly remained uncooperative and rude. “His constant response was, ‘You were the ones who approached me, I didn’t come to you asking for work,’” Mangat added. The final straw reportedly came when Raaz demanded two cars for a three-person staff.
However, Vijay Raaz offered a different version of events. He asserted that he was removed from the film because he failed to greet Ajay Devgn on the first day of shooting. “I spotted Ajay Devgn, who was standing about 25 meters away. I didn’t greet him as he was busy. Twenty-five minutes later, Mr. Mangat came to me and said, ‘You can leave the film, we are removing you,’” Raaz explained. He also defended his request for a larger room, citing his need for space to practice yoga.
Raaz dismissed allegations of misconduct, claiming he was removed just 30 minutes after arriving on set. He insisted, “These are powerful people, and the chatter of misconduct doesn’t arise at all.”
Mangat denied Raaz’s claim that his dismissal was due to not greeting Devgn, highlighting that the production suffered a loss of ₹2 crore because of the decision. He further alleged that a member of Raaz’s team was accused of sexual harassment at the hotel where the crew was staying. Raaz denied any connection to the incident, emphasizing that the events were separate.
Son of Sardaar 2 is the sequel to the 2012 hit comedy-drama starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonakshi Sinha. The sequel will feature Mrunal Thakur alongside Devgn, with Ravi Kishan stepping into the role originally intended for Dutt. Sanjay Mishra has replaced Vijay Raaz in the film.
