Sharvari Wagh is currently enjoying the success of her latest film, Vedaa, an action-thriller that hit theaters on Independence Day. The film, directed by Nikkhil Advani, has generated significant buzz, not only for its gripping storyline but also for the fierce box office competition it faced, releasing alongside Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein. Despite the competition, Vedaa has managed to carve out its own space, partly due to its strong performances and compelling narrative.

In addition to Sharvari Wagh, the film features John Abraham in a leading role and Tamannaah Bhatia in a significant supporting role. Vedaa opened to a respectable Rs 6.52 crore in the domestic market on its first day, according to reports from Sacnilk, with an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 35.63% on Thursday.

During a promotional event, Sharvari Wagh spoke candidly about the challenges she faced while shooting for Vedaa. The actress also took the opportunity to discuss her professional relationship with co-star Alia Bhatt, with whom she shared the screen in the upcoming film Alpha. In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Sharvari praised Alia, describing her as a “superstar” and a source of inspiration. “When I see her movies, I know they will be outstanding. We see not just Alia but the characters she plays,” Sharvari remarked.

Vedaa has been well-received by critics, although some reviews highlighted its reliance on familiar genre tropes. NDTV, in its review, noted that the film is based on the real-life killings of inter-caste couples in rural north India, but felt the narrative was somewhat diluted by its genre conventions. However, the review praised Sharvari’s portrayal of a determined law student fighting for her fundamental rights, describing her character as one who “demands equality and dignity,” even if her methods are not always conventional.

With its timely social commentary and powerful performances, Vedaa continues to draw attention as it navigates a competitive box office landscape.
