Tara Sutaria Opens Up On Being Criticised For SOTY2
Even before its release, Student of the Year 2 has been in limelight since its announcement. The movie was a victim of trolls and memes but the expectations were still high due to the enormous success of its first part that also introduced the superhit actors Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. However, the movie did average on the box office and received mixed reviews. The movie starred Tiger Shroff, Ananya Pandey and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles.
Being a Disney star earlier, all these criticisms weren’t something new for the actress Tara. Although she has acted earlier and has few sitcoms in her bag, it was her debut film. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the 23 year old actress said she was already prepared for all kind of criticisms. She said, “I’ve been in this line of work for a long time, so I’m used to criticism. In this case, there was no pressure from the production house, but people had expectations given the film’s franchise status and the first part’s success. Ever since the film was announced, we’d been subjected to trolling and memes, so we were expecting some criticism. But it’s part of the process.”
In the initial years of her career, Tara gained popularity as a singer with her songs like “Slippin’ Through My Fingers”. She is a trained performer and has worked with artists like Louiz Banks and Mikey McCleary. After that, she became popular for her roles in the Disney shows including ‘The suite life of Karan & Kabir’ and ‘Oye Jassie’.
Currently, she has wrapped up the shooting for Marjaavaan that also stars Siddharth Malhotra, Ritesh Deshmukh and Rakul Preet Singh. Now, she is working on RX100 remake that’s also going to be the debut film of Sunil Shetty’s son, Ahaan Shetty. Regarding her work in these movies, she said, “My role in Marjaavaan is something no one else is doing right now. I didn’t expect to do my second and third film in the same year. It’s great to be busy. I finished promoting SOTY 2 and I got into the RX 100 remake. We’ve shot a bit of the promotional material. Now we’re busy with readings and will go on floors in the next month or two.”
Well, there’s still a long way to go for her and we hope she earns a good deal of name and fame in B-Town too.
