Suhana Khan’s picture, sharing her significantly lighter skin, goes viral and sparks treatment rumours

A screenshot of Suhana Khan’s Tira advertising was recently shared on Reddit, with the OP pointing out her noticeably lighter skin and implying that she had received skin-lightening treatment. As horrible as it may seem, Suhana has been the target of trolling since she was a little child because of the colour of her skin. But the actress remained unaffected by the hate.

Suhana took to Instagram in 2020 to share several screenshots of the terrible remarks labelling her ‘ugly’ and ‘kaali.’ In a lengthy statement, she discussed the problem of colourism in the nation and disclosed that since she was twelve years old, older men and women had been making disparaging comments about her skin tone. She stated:

“Other than the fact that these are actual adults, what’s sad is that we are all Indian, which automatically makes us brown – yes we come in different shades but no matter how much you try to distance yourself from the melanin, you just can’t. Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure. I’m sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking,or even your own families have convinced you that if you’re not 5’7 and fair you’re not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I’m 5’3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism.”

Just imagine her low self-esteem because all her so-called besties (ananya, shanaya) are all unnaturally fair.”
