In a devastating piece of news, South Indian Superstar Puneeth Rajkumar took his last breath today in a Bengaluru hospital. The actor suffered a cardiac arrest and was immediately taken to Vikram Hospital in an unresponsive state. The news of the actor’s passing away has left his fans in a state of shock and grief as he was only 46 years old.

In the afternoon, the Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai took to his Twitter handle to express condolences. “I am deeply shocked that Kannada celebrity Shri Puneeth Rajkumar died of a heart attack. The death of Kannadigar’s favourite actor, Appu, has caused enormous loss to Kannada and Karnataka and I pray that God will have mercy on his soul and give his fans the power to endure this pain,” he wrote.

The news agency ANI, confirmed the actor’s demise early this morning and also stated the Doctor’s words. “Actor Puneeth Rajkumar was admitted after suffering chest pain at 11.30 am. Trying our best to treat him. His condition is serious. Can’t say anything as of now. His condition was bad when brought to the hospital, treatment on in ICU: Dr Ranganath Nayak, Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru.” The hospital also said that the actor had been brought in unresponsive but that doctors were “trying (their) best to treat him.”

Reportedly, as soon as the news of Puneeth’s demise came out in public, his fans and followers gathered around the hospital. It is also said that the fans had shut their shops and the crowd had led to traffic jams in Bengaluru. The friends of the actor from the industry also took their social media handles to express their grief.

Superstar Chiranjeevi Konidela tweeted, “Shocking, devastating & heartbreaking! #PuneethRajkumar gone too soon. Rest in Peace! My deepest sympathies and tearful condolences to the family. A huge loss to the Kannada / Indian film fraternity as a whole. Strength to all to cope with this tragic loss!”

 

Actress Lakshmi Manchu, found it hard to believe about the demise of the actor and tweeted, “OMG!!!!!!!! Nooooooo. This can’t be true! How can this be? My deepest condolences to the family. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Gone too soon,” she wrote.
