The Kolkata rape-murder case has triggered widespread outrage across India, with people from all walks of life, including Bollywood celebrities and international cricketers, condemning the heinous crime. Among those who have spoken out is actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who recently shared his emotional response to the news, revealing how deeply it has affected him.
In an interview with Buzzoka, Mukesh recounted how he was alone at home when he first heard about the tragic incident. Overcome with grief, the actor said, “The first time I heard the news, I was alone at home. My wife and daughter were at her mother’s place. As soon as I heard the news, tears welled up in my eyes, and I cried for an hour out of sheer sadness. I remember calling my wife, trying to talk to her about it.”
Mukesh, known for his close-knit family life, expressed deep concern for his daughter’s future in light of such distressing events. “I am an emotional man, as many people know. I’m a family guy, and I often share reels with my daughter,” he said. “Like every father, I think about my daughter’s future. She will grow up one day—what will she face? It scares me.”
The actor’s candid remarks highlight the widespread anxiety many parents feel in the current climate, where safety concerns for children, especially girls, are increasingly prevalent.
On a personal note, Mukesh married Rukmini Sahay in a traditional Hindu ceremony in 2017. The couple welcomed their daughter, Nurvi Neil Mukesh, the following year. While the actor has yet to announce his next film project, his 2010 movie Lafangey Parinde, co-starring Deepika Padukone, recently marked 14 years since its release.
As the nation continues to grapple with the implications of the Kolkata case, Mukesh’s emotional response underscores the broader impact such tragedies have on families and society as a whole.
