Veteran lyricist Salim Khan has come forward to discuss the controversial blackbuck incident involving his son, actor Salman Khan. In an interview with ABP News, Salim emphasized Salman’s deep love for animals, asserting that their family has never harmed even the smallest creatures.

Salim recounted a conversation with Salman about the infamous blackbuck case, which has haunted the actor for years. “Salman Khan jaanwaro se bohot pyaar karta hai. Uske paas ek kutta tha, jabtak woh zinda tha tab tak use acche se rakha. Aur jab woh bimaar hua aur mara hai toh Salman roya,” he said. (Salman loves animals. He had a dog that he cared for deeply, and when it fell ill and passed away, Salman cried.) “When I asked him about the blackbuck incident, he said, ‘I wasn’t even there.’ He won’t lie to me. He doesn’t have a penchant for harming animals; he loves them.”

The blackbuck poaching case dates back to 1998, during the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Rajasthan. The incident angered the Bishnoi community, known for their reverence for the blackbuck. Salim also noted that his family has never used a gun, reinforcing their commitment to animal welfare.

When asked whether Salman should apologise to the Bishnoi community by visiting their major temple in Rajasthan, Salim firmly stated, “Doing this makes him accept, ‘I’ve done it.’ He hasn’t killed anyone; I haven’t killed anyone, nor has Salman. We have never even killed a cockroach. We don’t believe in these things.”

The ongoing feud between Salman and incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has added another layer of tension to the situation. Bishnoi threatened the actor during a court appearance in 2018, which escalated concerns for Salman’s safety. Following the blackbuck incident, the actor has received multiple death threats.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who was five years old at the time of the poaching, is reportedly linked to a series of threats against Salman. In April, gunshots were fired outside Salman’s residence in Bandra by shooters allegedly affiliated with the Bishnoi gang, who were later arrested.

The security around Salman has since been increased, particularly in light of recent violence, including the murder of Baba Siddique, a close friend of the actor, by three assailants in Mumbai last week. As tensions continue to rise, Salim Khan’s defence of his son adds a personal dimension to this ongoing saga.
