Salim Khan, veteran screenwriter and father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, faced a fresh threat during his routine morning walk on Thursday in Mumbai’s Bandstand area. The incident occurred when Khan, after taking a brief rest on a bench, was approached by two individuals on a scooter—a man and a woman wearing a burqa. According to reports, the man ominously asked Khan, “Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi?” referring to the notorious gangster who has made several threats against the Khan family.
Salim Khan, quick to react, noted the number of the scooter, which ended in 7444, and immediately informed his personal bodyguard, Deepak Borse. A complaint was lodged with the Bandra Police Station, prompting an investigation into the unknown couple, said Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Marathe. Marathe further stated that police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to track down the suspects. As of now, the couple has not been located.
This threat is the latest in a series of alarming incidents targeting the Khan family, raising concerns throughout Bollywood. Just a few months ago, Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, came under attack when two bikers fired gunshots near the building, reportedly acting on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi. Following the attack, nine individuals were arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), and the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the incident. They termed it a “first and last warning” to the Khan family, sending shockwaves across the Indian film industry.
The ongoing threats, particularly those linked to the Bishnoi gang, have kept both Salim and Salman Khan on high alert. Security around the family has been tightened in response to these incidents. Despite the heightened danger, neither Salim Khan nor Salman has commented publicly on the threats.
The Mumbai Police continue to treat the situation with urgency, given the high-profile nature of the Khan family and the public statements made by the Bishnoi gang. The entertainment industry remains tense as authorities work to ensure the safety of one of Bollywood’s most prominent families.
