Shera, Salman Khan’s longtime bodyguard, has addressed a viral video from the 2023 International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), in which he and Khan were alleged to have pushed actor Vicky Kaushal. In a recent interview with Zoom TV, Shera set the record straight, dismissing the claims as baseless and fabricated.

Shera’s Take on the IIFA Incident

The viral video sparked controversy as it appeared to show Kaushal being pushed aside by Khan and his bodyguards. Shera, whose real name is Gurmeet Singh Jolly, clarified that the incident was misinterpreted. “We did not push Vicky Kaushal,” Shera said. “I wasn’t the one involved, and the other bodyguard with us didn’t push him either. There was a cordial interaction between Vicky and Salman Bhai at the event.”

Shera emphasised that the narrative surrounding the video was misleading. “It was fabricated to look like something it wasn’t. Vicky is a good friend of Salman Bhai,” he added, putting to rest any speculations of tension between the two actors.

Shera’s Journey with Salman Khan

Shera has been a constant presence at Salman Khan’s side since 1995, providing security and personal protection. Over the years, he has become a trusted figure in Khan’s life, often speaking about their close bond beyond his role as a bodyguard. Shera also owns a security firm, Tiger Security, which has handled high-profile events, including providing security for international stars like Justin Bieber during his 2017 concert in Mumbai.

Born on May 19, 1969, in Andheri, Mumbai, Shera began his journey in the public eye as a bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Mumbai junior title in 1987 and securing second place in the Mr. Maharashtra junior competition in 1988. In addition to his work with Salman Khan, Shera made headlines in 2019 when he joined the political party Shiv Sena.

Upcoming Projects for Salman Khan and Vicky Kaushal

Both Salman Khan and Vicky Kaushal are busy with major film projects. Khan is set to star in Sajid Nadiadwala’s action-thriller Sikandar (2025), while Kaushal will feature in Laxman Utekar’s epic drama Chhava, a historical film based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji.

The controversy surrounding the viral video now appears to be settled, with Shera’s clarification laying to rest any rumours of conflict between the stars.
