Recently, at the India Today Conclave Mumbai 2023, Rhea addressed the hurtful label of being called a ‘chudail’. She addresed the accusations of practising black magic on Sushant Singh Rajput. With a hint of irony, she responded, “I kinda like the name chudail. Back in the day, who was a witch? A witch was a woman who did not subscribe to patriarchal society and had her own opinion, which was against the popular opinion of men and patriarchal societies back then. Maybe I am that person. Maybe I am a chudail, maybe I know how to do black magic.”
Rhea went on to shed light on the persistent patriarchal mindset in the society. She remarked, “The situation remains as it has been, reflecting the prevailing norms in our society. Regrettably, even today, if a man experiences a decline in his career after marriage, people often attribute it to his partner, saying, ‘Ever since she entered his life, his career has taken a downturn.’ It’s as if the man had no individual identity before the woman came along. In India, men predominantly tend not to heed the opinions of their wives or girlfriends, and if they did, our society might have evolved into a more progressive one.”

Additionally, Rhea emphasized that Sushant Singh Rajput had his distinct identity, rising from a small town to achieve success in the industry. She firmly denied the existence of black magic in the world, dispelling such notions.
Rhea Chakraborty’s life took an unexpected turn amid the controversies following her brief relationship with SSR between 2019-2020. After a year of keeping a low profile, she resumed her professional career this year, currently hosting the 19th season of Roadies.
