Remo D’Souza Cheated Dance Troupe? Wife Lizelle Breaks Silence On The Charges

Choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife, Lizelle D’Souza, have broken their silence days after reports surfaced about a case being registered against them for allegedly cheating a dance troupe of ₹11.96 crore. The couple issued a joint statement on Instagram on Sunday, expressing disappointment over the allegations.

Joint Statement: Denial of Allegations

In their statement, Remo and Lizelle conveyed their dismay over the way the allegations had been publicized, stating that it was “disheartening” to see such reports being circulated without proper verification. They urged the public not to spread rumors without knowing the facts, assuring their followers that they would soon reveal their side of the story.

 

“It has come to our notice through media reports that some complaint has been registered alleging fraud in regards to a certain dance troupe. It’s disheartening that such information has been published. We would like to request everyone to abstain from spreading rumours before ascertaining true facts,” the statement read.

The couple also reiterated their cooperation with the authorities and thanked their family, friends, and fans for their continuous support. “We shall put our case forward in due time and will continue to cooperate with the authorities in every way possible like we have done so far. We would like to thank our family, friends and fans for the outpouring of love and continuous support,” the statement concluded.

The Allegations

According to a report from PTI, a case was filed in Thane district against the couple and five others, based on a complaint by a 26-year-old dancer. The case, registered on October 16, accuses Remo, Lizelle, and the other defendants of cheating a dance troupe out of prize money amounting to ₹11.96 crore. The complainant alleged that his troupe was duped by the accused, who falsely claimed the group as their own after they won a television competition.

 

The FIR lists charges under sections 465 (forgery), 420 (cheating), and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint indicates that the alleged fraud occurred between 2018 and July 2024.
