Preity Zinta, the acclaimed Bollywood actor, recently shared insights into the challenging period she faced while undergoing IVF treatment. In a candid conversation with Vogue India, Zinta, who is often seen as a cheerful personality, revealed that her public image did not always reflect her private struggles.

During the interview, Zinta was asked about her return to acting in the upcoming film Lahore 1947. She emphasized the importance of balancing career aspirations with personal life, particularly for women in the entertainment industry.

“It’s important to focus on career, but being a woman, one also needs to realize that life is not completely fair and there is no level playing ground as the biological clock is real,” Zinta explained. She highlighted the challenges women face in maintaining a successful career while also prioritising family, noting that for female actors, the pressure to build a strong body of work often competes with the desire to start a family.

Preity Zinta, who welcomed twins Jai and Gia via surrogacy in November 2021 with her husband Gene Goodenough, shared that her children’s growth has allowed her to consider returning to work. “Now that my kids are over two years old, I felt I was ready to get back to work,” she said, signaling her readiness to re-engage with her acting career.

Reflecting on her experience during IVF treatment, Zinta opened up about the emotional toll it took on her. “I have good days and bad days just like everyone else,” she admitted. “Sometimes it’s a struggle to always be happy-go-lucky in real life, especially when you’re going through a tough phase.”

Zinta described the difficulty of maintaining a positive demeanor during this period, revealing that there were moments when she felt overwhelmed by the emotional and physical demands of the process. “It was very difficult to be smiley and nice all the time. Sometimes I just wanted to bang my head on the wall and cry or not talk to anybody,” she confessed.

Despite these challenges, Zinta is now preparing to make her return to the silver screen with Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film, which was announced in October last year, also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Sunny Deol, alongside his son Karan Deol.

Zinta’s story is a reminder of the complex balance many women in the industry must maintain, juggling their professional ambitions with the demands of family life.
