Actor Vikas Sethi, renowned for his roles in popular Indian television series such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, and Sasural Simar Ka*, passed away in his sleep following a cardiac arrest on Saturday night. He was 48.

Sethi had traveled to Nashik with his wife, Jhanvi Sethi, to attend a family function. According to Jhanvi, the actor began feeling unwell after arriving. “After we reached my mother’s house in Nashik, he started vomiting and had loose motions. He didn’t want to go to the hospital, so we called a doctor home,” Jhanvi shared with PTI. Despite receiving medical care, Vikas passed away during the night. “When I went to wake him around 6 a.m. on Sunday, I realized he was no more,” she added.

 

 

The actor’s body has been sent to Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem. His last rites will take place in Mumbai on Monday. Vikas is survived by his wife, Jhanvi, and their twin sons.

Career in Television and Film

Vikas Sethi was a well-known name in Indian television, having acted in several successful TV serials. He gained widespread fame for his roles in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahiin To Hoga, both of which became household names. He also appeared in Sasural Simar Ka and Yeh Vada Raha, further establishing his presence in the industry.

Sethi’s work extended to Bollywood films as well. He is remembered for his role as Robbie in the 2001 blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, where he played the date of Kareena Kapoor’s character, Poo. His other film credits include Deewaanapan, Oops, Modh, and iSmart Shankar.

The actor also competed in the fourth season of the dance reality show Nach Baliye alongside his then-wife, Amita. The couple later separated, and in 2018, Vikas married Jhanvi. In 2021, the couple welcomed twin sons, a milestone Sethi proudly announced on social media.

Vikas’ sudden death has shocked his colleagues and friends in the entertainment industry. Actors Hiten Tejwani and Delnaaz Irani expressed their grief and disbelief at his unexpected demise, offering condolences to his family.
