Pooja Batra Confirms Marrying Actor Nawab Shah In A Arya Samaj Wedding, Reveals How They Fell In Love

This year saw some of the interesting things happening in the lives of our beloved celebs. Some walked down the aisle, some got engaged and some welcomed tiny humans into their lives. And now there is a new addition to the list and it is none other than Virasat fame Pooja Batra. She is also the winner of Miss Femina India International 1993. A couple of months ago she made headlines when she announced her love affair with Nawab Shah. But who would have known that they would tie the knot so soon?

Confirming the news of their marriage in an interview Bombay Times Pooja had revealed, “Yes, we are married. Nawab and I exchanged vows in Delhi, with only our families in attendance. Our loved ones kept asking us why we were delaying it (the marriage). I was simply going with the flow, but then I realised that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and there is no point in delaying it any further. So, here we are. We had an Arya Samaj wedding, and we will register our marriage this week.”

Speaking of the first time she met Nawab and how love brewed between them she had stated, “I knew of Nawab by virtue of being in the same profession. However, we strongly connected after we were reintroduced by a common friend in February this year. I guess we reconnected at the right time in our life. We were in the same space emotionally and hit it off instantly.”

Further revealing what qualities she likes in him Pooja had said, “I have always respected and liked Nawab, and this time around, I was open to the idea of getting to know him better. A part of me wanted to see if there could be something beyond friendship between us. We share emotional and intellectual compatibility, and we don’t have to explain too much to each other. I like the fact that he is a family person.”

Pooja also went on to admit that hubby Nawab Shah is more romantic than him and said, “During the initial days of our relationship, there was this one time when he came to pick me up at the airport, and according to him, he wanted to pop the question right then. However, he got nervous and dropped the idea (laughs!). He was ready to propose to me soon after we met. Eventually, he proposed to me in Delhi, and again when he came to meet my parents with his family.”

For those who don’t know Pooja was earlier married to an NRI orthopaedic surgeon named Dr Sonu S Ahluwalia. But after 11 years of marital bliss, the two got separated due to irreconcilable differences. Talking about the same in an interview Pooja had shared, “I’ve lived through the most gruelling, lonely and difficult phase of my life! All the negative energies from my eight-year marriage and divorce burst out on the sets like a pressure cooker. The upheavals took a toll but my ambition to make a name for myself in this part of the world kept me going.”

After getting divorced Pooja had once again found love in Norweigan born, Christian Middelthon. But things didn’t work out between them and they got separated. In a 2016 interview, she had talked about her then-boyfriend Christian Middelthon and shared, “Yes! I have a European boyfriend… If you’re asking if marriage is on my mind, it is not, simply because I am independent. I have my business to sustain. Financially, I am self-sufficient and would love to not be married as of now.”
