Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is making his much-anticipated return as a host at the IIFA Awards 2024. During the pre-event held in Mumbai, Khan took the stage alongside filmmaker Karan Johar, sparking a humorous and light-hearted exchange between the two. The duo, known for their strong camaraderie, entertained the audience with playful banter, poking fun at each other’s hosting and filmmaking careers.

Khan teased Johar for focusing more on hosting than directing films, humorously recalling their conversations. “Karan told me he wouldn’t rehearse for hosting and would do it on Zoom. He said, ‘Bhai, main Zoom pe kar lunga… main toh itna hosting karta hu na. (I host so much, I can do it quickly). You host chat shows, film shows… but make more films too, my brother!” Khan quipped, bringing laughter from the crowd.

Continuing in his signature style, Khan added, “Chat show bhi host karta hai, film show bhi host karta hai… picture bhi toh bana mere bhai tu. (You host chat shows and film shows… but also make some movies, brother). How much will you host?”

Johar, known for his wit, joined in on the joke, acknowledging Khan’s point. “I was thinking the same when Siddhant (Chaturvedi) pointed it out. I thought, this sounds so wrong for a filmmaker. I really should be making more movies,” said Johar, referencing his popular celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan.

The duo’s light-hearted banter comes as a reminder of their long-standing collaboration, having worked together on blockbuster films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, My Name is Khan, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Khan also made headlines at the event by debuting a new look, sporting a sleek, short hairstyle. His black graphic t-shirt, paired with funky black flare pants and white sneakers, along with a black baseball cap, added a fresh and stylish touch to his appearance.

Speaking about his return to IIFA, Khan expressed his excitement about hosting alongside Vicky Kaushal and Karan Johar. “I’m so privileged to be hosting this show… It’s really nice to be here. Thank you IIFA for having me,” he said. Khan also praised IIFA’s commitment to showcasing Indian cinema, including its expansion to regional languages like Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu, calling it “even more Indian than ever before.”

The 2024 IIFA Awards promise a night filled with star-studded performances, and Khan’s return as host is sure to be a highlight of the event.
